Tiger Woods had a decent run at the 2023 Masters. Despite not playing regular golf, the five-time former champion managed to make the cut on Saturday. With this, the golfer matched the record for most consecutive cuts made at the prestigious tournament (23).
Woods was visibly struggling on the field on Saturday. The 15-time Major champion was spotted limping around at the Augusta National during the third round.
Despite the severe winds and cold temperatures, the golfer stayed on the pitch and played one of his finest rounds in recent times. Following this, Sky Sports commentator Ewen Murray mentioned that he got emotional and “shed a tear” watching Woods struggle on the green.
Responding to a tweet on Tiger Woods’ health condition, the appreciated golf broadcaster wrote:
“I’m aware of the work/effort Tiger requires to prepare for play. I’m fortunate to have lived in his era and witness his excellence. Tonight, I’m not ashamed to say I shed a tear. An outstanding golfer and sportsman. There is much he can do in the future for many, and he will.”
Tiger Woods withdraws from the 2023 Masters
Tiger Woods announced his withdrawal from the 2023 Masters on Sunday. The golfer pulled out of the tournament due to injuries to his right foot. The sports legend revealed his decision just ahead of Sunday’s tee-off.
Taking to Twitter, Woods wrote:
“I am disappointed to have to WD this morning due to reaggravating my plantar fasciitis. Thank you to the fans and to The Masters who have shown me so much love and support. Good luck to the players today!”
The 15-time Major champion had 11 holes remaining to complete the third round, which was suspended due to rain on Saturday. However, the golfer’s struggle with injuries didn’t let him.
