Justin Thomas did not have an outstanding season this year and he ended up tying for 14th at the Tour Championship. He is one of the most accomplished golfers today, but he didn't put it all together in 2024.

After a brilliant outing at the ZOZO Championship, one golf insider thinks his stock is rising. Radio analyst Dennis Paulson, who also played professionally, said:

"I definitely see a trend working in the positive direction for him. The putter seems to be coming around for him. He's one of those guys that when he's hitting it good, he doesn't have to be anywhere better than 40th or 50th in putting."

Paulson said that Thomas' ball-striking has been "definitely better" and that the golfer was hitting shots he hasn't recently. He added that Thomas was hitting shots that others just weren't in the ZOZO Championship.

The analyst continued:

"I have a feeling that he's definitely going to be moving in the right direction. Trending in the right direction. I would be surprised if he's not for sure a top-20 guy for sure next year in the FedEx Cup."

Thomas has been trending in the right direction. He shot -19 and was one stroke off the lead at the ZOZO Championship. He shot 14 under at the Tour Championship. The week before that, he did struggle at the BMW Championship but has overall had a couple of very strong weeks.

Justin Thomas addresses failure to end years-long losing streak

Had just one or two strokes been different at the 2024 ZOZO Championship, Justin Thomas may well have ended his two-and-a-half-year losing streak. As it stands, he was T2 but is still winless in that time frame.

Thomas said (via Golf.com):

“Yeah, it’s a mixture of obviously bummed and disappointed, but I played so well. I played plenty well enough to win the tournament. Hit so many good putts today that just didn’t go in, that’s the difference. I needed some of those ones that burned the edge to fall.”

Much like Dennis Paulson, Thomas believes he's trending in the right direction for the future:

“The stuff I’ve been working on, everything I’ve been doing is obviously the right stuff and I’m still going the right direction. Just got to keep trying to put myself in contention and right there as often as I can.”

Justin Thomas said he's hoping for a "law of averages thing" where he eventually gets a win for all the hard work he's put in. He knows it starts with the hard work he's been doing and it continues with a continued effort to put himself out there and give himself as many chances as he can take.
