The buzz for the 2025 Ryder Cup has started, as the biennial event returns to the United States at the iconic Bethpage Black Course in Farmingdale, New York. The PGA of America recently announced the ticket prices for the tournament, but fans have expressed outrage over the exorbitant costs set for the week-long event.
The ticket prices are as follows: $255.27 for the first two practice days, $423.64 for the third Practice Day, Junior Ryder Cup Exhibition, celebrity matches, and opening ceremony, and $749.51 for the main three days of the tournament.
The PGA of America shared the ticket prices for the 2025 Ryder Cup, and a sports journalist, Kevin Van Valkenburg, shared the screenshot of the prices on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote:
"I would like to go on the record now and say that if Europe wins the Ryder Cup at Bethpage because the crowds were turned into a polite snooze fest like LACC by the insane ticket prices, it's going to go down as a massive own goal."
Reacting to the tweet, plenty of fans criticized the high ticket prices for the 2025 Ryder Cup.
"Golf continues to give a middle finger to the common fan," a senior sports journalist wrote.
"It’s not clear: Do I get to play the full 18 or just 9 for the Americans for those prices?" a fan jokingly asked.
A fan compared the Solheim Cup and Ryder Cup and said the former is the premier event in pro golf.
"Just further validates that the Solhein a cup is the premier event in professional golf, not Ryder," a fan wrote.
A couple of people believed players wanting a paycheck for Ryder Cup is valid, considering the insane ticket prices.
"Starting to think the players have a point about wanting a paycheck for this event!" a golf writer wrote.
"At $750/session, I guess I can't fault Cantlay for wanting some of that," a user commented.
"Holy hell. I’m pretty sure that the entire cost for Pinehurst Major for the full week was like $850 for tickets. That’s insulting. Is there special pricing, at least for kids or under a certain age? Way to grow the game…..," another fan wrote.
Team USA skipper for the 2025 Ryder Cup says he has faith in New York fans
The tensions are high during the Ryder Cup week, especially at the golf course. Hence, while passionately supporting their respective teams, fans must refrain from crossing any lines.
The home team skipper Keegan Bradley has faith in the New York fans to cheer but not cross the line or do something that would affect the course of play.
"I have total faith in the fans of New York to cheer on their team, proudly and loudly. I don't want them to cross the line to do anything that would affect the course of play. But it's going to be a tough atmosphere. It's going to be tough for both teams," Bradley said a recent press conference.
The 2025 Ryder Cup will begin on September 23, 2025, at the Bethpage Black Course and will conclude on September 25.
