Jon Rahm had a tough day at the office in the opening round of the PGA Championship. His frustration was evident, as he was caught throwing his club in anger after a poor shot during the round.

Rahm carded a 1-under 70 on the first day at Valhalla Golf Club. He made five bogeys in his opening round, but then recovered by scoring six birdies to finish the day just under par.

During the first round, Rahm was 1-over for the round at the par-4 16th hole. After shooting a 323-yard tee shot, his approach shot traveled 175 yards but landed a bit wayward on the left fairway. Disgusted with his shot, the Spaniard threw his club, leaving even the commentators shocked.

Fans on X grabbed the opportunity to make some jokes and troll Jon Rahm. Many took a dig at him by making LIV Golf references. Here's a look at some of the reactions.

"Got you under pressure! It’s a song," one fan wrote.
"Stick to LIV bro," another user wrote.
"I’ve noticed that most of the Saudi defectors just haven’t been the same since the switch but maybe it’s just me 🤔 & BTW Brooks definitely isn’t one of them⛳️," one fan opined.
"Bro signed for hundreds of millions to abandon the tour and become a part time golfer. He can’t possibly be mad he’s not playing well 😂 I would own it and show up with a speaker and an Arnold Palmer spiked and just have myself a fun time. Pair me with the worst out there😂," this user commented.
"The downfall of guys who joined LIV needs to be studied. This guy looked like he was having so much fun on tour last year and now this is where he’s at," one user posted.
"Still a PGAT member just not playing on the PGAT but has a big bank account. $$$ over Legacy," this fan took a dig at Rahm.

When will Jon Rahm tee off at the PGA Championship, Day 2?

Jon Rahm is grouped with Rickie Fowler and Cameron Young for the second round of the PGA Championship. The trio will tee off from the 10th hole on Friday, May 17, at 8:37 am ET.

Rahm had a difficult start to his week at Valhalla, as he began with four bogeys in the first six holes. His first birdie came on the par 5, seventh hole. After finishing the front nine at 3-over, the Spaniard recovered on the back nine and birdied five holes and just one bogey to end the day at 1-under par.

Jon Rahm is looking for his first win of the season, as he has been winless on the LIV Golf circuit as well. His last win came at the Masters Tournament last year.
