Greg Norman recently gave an exclusive interview with Golf Digest Australia and shared his views on various topics. He also indicated that he is willing to sit face-to-face with Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy and discuss how they have benefitted from LIV Golf.
“I would love to. I would love them to recognize the fact that – like Tiger with his PIP money [Player Impact Program] – that only came because of LIV, right? So Tiger benefitted from that. "Rory’s benefitted from that," Norman said.
He then said he would love to sit down with them and talk as he is not judgemental and confident enough to win the debate.
"I would love to sit down and talk to them about it, no question about it. Because I’m not a judgmental person, and you only learn the facts and truth when you hear the other side of it. But, yes, would I like to sit down with them? Sure, absolutely. And you know what? I’d win the debate," Norman said.
Greg Norman is all set to step down from his position as the CEO of LIV Golf as his official tenure ends on August 31 this year. He has been in this position since the league started in 2022 and has played a crucial role in signing prominent names.
Who will replace Greg Norman as the CEO of LIV Golf?
As Greg Norman steps down from his position as the CEO of LIV Golf, the league has brought in Scott O’Neil to take up this position. O'Neil has experience in sports and entertainment management and has been working in this field for the last 25 years.
He has headed some iconic sports and entertainment industry brands like the NBA's New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers, the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles, the NHL's New York Rangers, and the New Jersey Devils.
The LIV Golf Board Chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan said O'Neil has the passion and tenacity to lead their team and players for years to come.
"Scott has the passion, the tenacity, and the vision to continue leveraging LIV Golf’s position as a pre-eminent, global sports and entertainment company and to lead our amazing teams and players for years to come," Al-Rumayyan said.
Although Scott O'Neil is taking over, Greg Norman will remain associated with the league in some way. He believes he has changed the game of golf more than people realize.
Additionally, the former Australian pro golfer said he is trying to double the portfolio of golf courses he has opened. Norman has designed 124 golf courses but wishes to take this number up to 250 in a few upcoming years.
