Tiger Woods is confirmed to play in the second game of the TGL Series. The much-anticipated tech-infused golf series, TGL, finally kicked off its first edition on January 7 with an exciting opening match.
The upcoming game on Tuesday, January 14, will see Jupiter Links Golf Club face off against Los Angeles Golf Club. Only three of the four players from each team can compete in a match, and Tiger Woods is confirmed to be playing next week.
However, fans online have expressed mixed reactions to the announcement. Woods has been struggling with injuries and rarely participates in official golf events.
Despite this, his last outing at the PNC Championship, where he teamed up with his son Charlie, was impressive as they finished in second place. Nevertheless, fans are uncertain about his performance in the TGL.
"Guarantee Tiger, the needle mover, triples viewing from the first match," a fan said.
Meanwhile, some fans have commented that Los Angeles Golf Club could win easily.
"My heart says Jupiter but my gut says LA," a fan said.
"Damn… LA golf lineup goated," another commented.
"LA should win easily," a fan said.
Others have shared their excitement about seeing Woods back in action.
"That’s our guy," a fan wrote.
"Tiger and Max on the same team is about to go CRAZY," another added.
"We want to see 🐅," a fan posted.
Tiger Woods reflects on his excitement for the start of the TGL
The TGL finally launched its inaugural season, which had been postponed from January 2024 to January 2025 due to the collapse of the SoFi Center's dome.
Speaking about the long-awaited start of the series, Tiger Woods shared his excitement during the first match broadcast on ESPN on January 7. Woods remarked that it was hard to believe the series had finally begun.
"Considering this was just a dream conjured up - Rory and I were talking about it - it's hard to believe that that dream came into reality and we're able to take golf into another stratosphere really," Woods said.
"Just to have the ability to showcase our sport - and it's not traditional golf, yes - but it is golf. And that's the main thing provided a different type of atmosphere. I hear a couple people rooting against Wyndham on that putt back there. You don't normally hear that at events. There are certain events you do hear that all the time, but most events you don't hear that. You're gonna hear that here, which is great," he added.
For the upcoming match, Tiger Woods will join Kevin Kisner and Max Homa to represent Jupiter Links Golf Club, while Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa, and Sahith Theegala will play for Los Angeles Golf Club.
