The Happy Gilmore sequel is in the works after 28 years since its first release in 1996. The 1996 film tells the story of a hockey player (Adam Sandler) who participates in a golf match to make money for his grandma and in the process of doing so, he discovers his natural talent for golf.
Recently, Netflix volunteered to produce the sequel of the Happy Gilmore but it's unknown whether the release would stick to the OTT platform or in the movie halls. However, there's an interesting opportunity for interested participants who want to be a part of the film.
“The open casting call will be Tuesday, August 20 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the plaza ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Morristown (3 Speedwell Ave., Morristown). The casting agency is looking for New Jersey locals of all ages and ethnicities," NJ Advance media stated.
As per the demands of the cast selection, the participant has to be a New Jersey local. The lucky fan who gets a chance in the Happy Gilmore movie is uncertain but the protagonist Adam Sandler, is definitely making a comeback in the film. Previously, Sandler talked about the impact of the film in his life.
“I have to. I get called out literally. If I go to a new place, it’s a guarantee on the opening tee where just people come forward and they are like looking, and I’m like I gotta do this. Do the Gilmore swing and move on,” Sandler said.
Earlier this year, Christopher McDonald teased the idea of an upcoming Happy Gilmore script. He explained how Adam Sandler showed him the script of the upcoming movie.
“Here’s a quick intel…I saw Adam [Sandler] and he says to me ‘McDonald. You’re going to love this.’ I said ‘What?’ And he says ‘How about that?’ and he shows me a first draft of Happy Gilmore 2,” McDonald said to 92.3 The Fan.
The film received huge appreciation when it was released and hence created a widespread fandom.
