The golfer shot back-to-back 65s in the first two rounds with seven birdies along with an eagle in the first round and eight birdies with no bogeys in the second round. In the third round, he fired 62 with eleven birdies.

Matsuyama had the lowest 54-hole score at the Sentry Tournament. After the third round, the golfer joined a press conference to explain his playing experience on the 17th tee shot.

“You know, it was a lot of fun… I didn't think it was going to be there, so I'm glad I went down and it was there,” Matsuyama said (via ASAP Sports).

He also talked about whether he discussed his playing experience with Collin Morikawa.

“No, I didn't really talk much, but he played so well that I just kind of followed his lead, and just kind of kept on,” Matsuyama added.

Last year, Matsuyama finished at 58 at the Sentry Tournament with 8 under 284 and 71-68-76-69 over the four rounds.

In 2022, he landed at T13, his best finish at the tournament so far. He carded 21 under 271. The following year, he finished at T21 with 16 under 276.
