J.J. Spaun has won one PGA Tour event in his career and is in contention to win his second at the 2025 Sony Open in Hawaii this week. The American golfer has been playing professionally since 2012 and so far has won four professional tournaments. He won one PGA Tour event, one on the Korn Ferry Tour, and two other professional events.
On the PGA Tour, J.J. Spaun won the Valero Texas Open in 2022. He won the event by two shots over Matt Jones and Matt Kuchar. The American started his outing at the tournament with a round of 67, then played a round of 70 in the second round and carded the final two rounds of 69 to win the event.
Meanwhile, he won his maiden professional event at the National Series 7, a gateway tour event, in 2013. His second professional win came at the Staal Foundation Open in 2015 when he registered a one-shot win over Nicholas Reach. He played the four rounds of 67, 67, 69, and 67 to win the event on the PGA Tour Canada.
In 2016, he won the News Sentinel Open by registering a one-shot win over Sam Ryder. He played the four rounds of 66, 62, 64, and 66 to win the tournament on the Korn Ferry Tour, previously known as the Web.com Tour.
J.J. Spaun is now in contention to win another PGA Tour event at this week’s Sony Open in Hawaii. He took the lead in the game after playing 54 holes. The tournament will have its final fourth round on Sunday, January 12.

At the 2025 Sony Open in Hawaii, J.J. Spaun played a round of 65 on Saturday (January 11) and jumped up four spots on the leaderboard, taking the lead in the game at 13-under. He carded seven birdies and two bogeys on Saturday for a round of 5-under and settled for the top position with a total of 13-under.
During the press conference of the tournament on Saturday, the American golfer reflected on his performance, saying (via ASAP Sports):
"Just got off to a pretty solid start. Made a few pars on the first couple holes and then a nice birdie on 3. Just kind of took what it gave me and took the opportunities when they came and capitalized on it. It was a pretty solid round overall."
He started the campaign with a round of 66 and then played another round of 66 on Friday to make the cut at the event. J.J. Spaun will tee off for the final round on Sunday just one stroke ahead of Patrick Fishburn, Stephan Jaeger and Eric Cole, who are all tied for second place at 12-under.
