"They're not true" - Tony Finau on LIV Golf rumors
Earlier this month, when Finau withdrew from the Hero World Challenge, rumors of him possibly joining LIV Golf swirled on the internet. However, he later released a statement revealing the reason for the withdrawal. He said (his SI):
"From what my doctor told me, it was a pretty standard clean up. He said it would be helpful and so I did it.”
Finau also addressed his LIV Golf rumors, saying:
“They’re not true. I’m more than happy where I’m at on the PGA Tour and looking forward to 2025. When I tee it up in Maui, it will all go away, so, I don’t worry about it one bit.”
Meanwhile, this season on the PGA Tour, Tony Finau has been impressive with his game on the circuit. He started the season at The Sentry and tied for 38th place, and then finished T25 at The American Express. He recorded some impressive finishes such as T6 at the Farmers Insurance Open, T3 at the Texas Children's Houston Open, T8 at the Memorial Open, T5 at the Travelers Championship, T3 at the US Open, and T13 at the BMW Championship.
Finau last played on the PGA Tour in the FedEx Cup playoffs and has since been on a break. He recorded T16 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T13 at the BMW Championship, and T23 at the Tour Championship. The American golfer only missed the cut in two tournaments, including the Valspar Championship and The Open.
