Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry shared a hilarious moment following the third round of the 2024 Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
At the PGA Tour event, the Irishmen were joined by CBS announcer Amanda Renner for an interview when they showed a video of Shane Lowry missing a shot as his tee ball landed in the water on the 16th. But McIlroy covered it, and they scored a birdie on the hole
Seeing the video, Lowry asked to show some birdies, and in support of his partner, Rory McIlroy pointed out an incredible shot Lowry made on the 17th hole against the stern wind to settle for a par.
Speaking of the shot, McIlroy said (via Golf Digest):
“That was a huge shot just to keep..."
However, before he could finish the sentence, Lowry said:
"See, he’s trying to make me feel good."
Which made Rory laugh as he said:
"I’m a good teammate.”
Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry have been pretty impressive with their game at the 2024 Zurich Classic of New Orleans. At the end of the third round, they settled in a tie for third place with a score of under 21.

Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry will tee off for the fourth round of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans on Sunday, April 28th. They will start their game on the first hole of TPC Louisiana in Avondale at 1:44 p.m. ET in a group with Ryan Brehm and Mark Hubbard.
The game will start at 10:16 a.m. ET with Doug Ghim and Chan Kim taking the first shot of the day alongside Chez Reavie and Brandt Snedeker.
Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry started the game at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans on Thursday, April 26th. They shot a bogey-free round of 11-under. They began the game with four back-to-back birdies and added a couple more on the seventh and eighth holes.
The team shot five more birdies on the back nine to settle for a score of 61. In the event's second round, Lowry and McIlroy shot two birdies on the front nine and two on the back, along with two bogeys, to score 2-under 70. The team again carded a bogey-free round on Saturday, April 27th. They shot eight birdies to settle for a total deficit of 21.
Zac Blair and Patrick Fishbum sit at the top of the leaderboard with a score of under 23. The final of the tournament will be held on Sunday, April 28th.
Luke List and Henrik Norlander settled in second place with a score of under 22, followed by Ryan Brehm/ Mark Hubbard and Rory McIlroy/ Shane Lowry.
