World No. 1 Nelly Korda is enjoying some time off pro golf as the LPGA Tour's Asian leg begins next week. Earlier, the 26-year-old golfer enjoyed a vacation in New York and is currently spending time with her family.
Korda is the most followed female professional golfer on Instagram. She is one of the most active golfers on social media, especially Instagram, and has around one million followers. Hence, to keep her fans updated, she posts regularly and shares updates regarding her practice sessions, travel, etc.
Recently, she shared a picture on her Instagram story from a coffee date with her elder sister, Jessica Korda.
"Hey, good looking... oh hey Jess;) @thejessicakorda"
Jessica Korda is also a professional golfer and represented Team USA in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The 31-year-old golfer hasn't competed on the LPGA Tour since May 2023. She became a mother in February 2024 and is currently spending time with her baby and family.
Nelly, on the other hand, had an exceptional 2024 LPGA Tour season. She has amassed six wins in just five months. No other golfer has come close to her dominance this season, as she reigned supreme over the first five months on the LPGA Tour.
After that, the 26-year-old golfer lost some momentum as she missed three cuts in a row. However, she seems to have found her confidence back as she finished T2 at the AIG Women's Open and T5 at the Kroger Queen City Championship. She was also part of the Solheim Cup winning team.
Nelly Korda and Jessica Korda open up on how they got into golf
All members of the Korda family are professional athletes, as both parents, Petr and Regina, were professional tennis players. Their daughters Nelly and Jessica turned pro golfers while their son followed their footsteps and became a tennis pro.
Therefore, coming from a family of professional tennis players, the Korda sisters revealed to Golf Digest how they got into golf.
"When Dad retired from tennis, he played (golf)," Nelly said.
The elder Korda said that they began playing golf while they were in the Czech Republic and trained with a coach named Jonathan Yardwood.
"That was when he was with Michael Campbell, right before Campbell won the U.S. Open [2005]. So my dad was on the range with Cambo and JY, and he got this behind-the-scenes look at how professional golfers work, and he really enjoyed the process of it. I got into a golf group and loved the competition and games. Then Nelly came along and got into it, too," Jessica said.
"My brother played hockey. I ice skated and did gymnastics a bit. Jess is five years older, so when she got serious about golf, I started taking lessons. I started getting serious around 6, taking lessons three or four times a week," Nelly added.
