Hideki Matsuyama will be without his usual caddie, Shota Hayafuji, for the FedExCup playoffs. He will also miss the services of his coach, at least for this week.
According to Golf Magic, Matsuyama's caddie Shota and coach Mikihito Kuromiya were victims of a robbery during their stopover in London. This incident took place immediately after the golfer secured a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Before heading to Memphis for the 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship, Matsuyama had a quick stopover in London. Unfortunately, the passports of his caddie and coach were stolen, while Hideki had his wallet stolen.
So, the 2021 Masters Champion will have Taiga Tabuchi on the bag assisting him this week. Tabuchi has caddied for Ryo Hisatsune this year on the PGA Tour and has strong experience. He will be partnering with Hideki Matsuyama until his usual caddie, Shota Hayafuji, returns.

"There's a chance they'll make it, but we have to go into it thinking it's close to zero," Matsuyama said.
"I'm glad he [Tabuchi] accepted. He's worked with Hisatsune this year, so I think he knows the ropes, and he can speak English, so I can rely on him."

The 2024 Paris Olympics bronze medalist Hideki Matsuyama made it to the FedExCup playoffs with ease as he is ranked 8th in the FedExCup rankings going into the first leg of the playoffs, the St. Jude Championship.
The top 70 ranked golfers in the season-long FedExCup standings will be in the field for the St. Jude Championship. After that, only the top 50 ranked golfers will move ahead to the BMW Championship, and then only the top 30 golfers will head to the finale, The Tour Championship.
