Hideki Matsuyama won the first FedEx Cup Playoff event of the year - the 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship. Having earned a grand cheque worth $3.6 million and 2,000 FedEx Cup points, the Olympian had a special celebration planned to commemorate the milestone.

During the post-tournament press conference, Matsuyama stated that he intends to celebrate with a meal at Chick-fil-A. However, as the franchise remains closed on Sundays, he had to wait till the next day to treat himself. The ten-time PGA Tour winner also shared his go-to order at the restaurant.

Matsuyama's ideal meal at Chick-fil-A includes the number two Large Spicy Deluxe Meal with American Cheese, no tomatoes, and no pickles. One sandwich contains 520 calories. As the meal comes with a side of their signature waffle cut fries, the calorie count goes up by another 520 calories.

The 2021 Augusta Masters champion paired the meal with a side of the Four Count Chicken Strips which contains 410 calories. Matsuyama's preferred drink with the treat is a zero-calorie Diet Coke. The 1,450-calorie meal was the 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship winner's treat to himself.

Here's a look into Matsuyama's go-to celebration order at Chick-fil-A:

Hideki Matsuyama withdraws from the 2024 BMW Championship

Fresh off a win at the 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship last week, Hideki Matsuyama had a stellar start at the ongoing BMW Championship. However, the Japanese golfer has called it quits and will be heading home earlier than expected.

Matsuyama carded an opening round score of five under par 67 to end the day just one stroke behind the leader, leading fans to believe that he could potentially secure his third victory of the season at the event. However, he withdrew from the BMW Championship citing an injury to his lower back on Friday, August 23.

The Olympian is no stranger to back, shoulder, and neck problems. Three months ago, Matsuyama had withdrawn from the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship shortly after winning the Genesis Invitational due to tightness in his back that eventually transitioned into excruciating pain according to the golfer.

Having cited lower back pain, the 32-year-old had also pulled out of the 2023 edition of the BMW Championship. Matsuyama's withdrawal from this week's event marks his second withdrawal this season and his fifth in the last two seasons.

However, his decision to sit out the BMW Championship will not affect him dearly in the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Ranked third on the FedEx Cup Rankings, Matsuyama is guaranteed a spot at the Playoffs' finale - the Tour Championship in East Lake Golf Club.
