High school senior makes first PGA Tour start at Black Desert Championship- "Most nervous I've been"

The 2024 Black Desert Championship is underway at the Black Desert Golf Course in Ivins, Utah, USA. This year's edition of the tournament features some veterans and even young golfers like high school senior Bowen Mauss, who is making his first PGA Tour start at the tournament.

In a video shared on the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of the PGA Tour, Mauss can be seen sharing moments with fellow golfers at the Black Desert Championship. Mauss also spoke about what it felt like to get his first PGA Tour start.

The high school senior said:

"I was really nervous on the first tee. More nervous than I thought I would be, but a lot of excitement, too. Definitely the most nervous I have been, especially with the crowd. Bigger crowds than I have ever had before."

Further in the interaction with the media, the amateur golfer spoke about the golf he played in Round 1 of the Black Desert Championship. Mauss spoke about the birdie he made on the 15th hole. Bowen Mauss said:

"My birdie on par-3 15... probably the best one of the day. The crowd went loud, and yeah it was fun."

Further in the interview, Bowen Mauss said that even though he didn't have his A-game, he still shot 2-over par. He added that he knows if he cleans up in Round 2, he can shoot under par. The young amateur also said that he hoped to putt better in future rounds at the Black Desert Championship.
