The PGA Tour has officially confirmed that the 2025 Genesis Invitational will be moved to Torrey Pines after several speculations. They released a statement on Friday, January 24, announcing that the Tiger Woods-hosted event would be held at the San Diego-based golf course due to concerns over wildfires in the Los Angeles area.

The Genesis Invitational was initially set to be played at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California, from February 13 to 16. However, Pacific Palisades is one of the worst-affected regions due to the wildfires, which forced the organizers to look for an alternative venue.

On Thursday, the PGA Tour released a statement regarding the shift of the Genesis Invitational.

However, fans online were unhappy with the news of Torrey Pines being the host of the Tiger Woods-hosted event. Here's a look at some reactions:

"Horrible choice," one fan wrote. "TPC would have been better for the fan standpoint. I didn't know there were that many crybabies afraid of the place."
"Terrible decision," another fan posted.
"This is the problem with the pga tour in a nutshell. No imagination. Zero willingness to try something different. Oversaturation of tournaments and now we have repeat courses on the schedule. Boring," this fan commented.
"Uh so we just running it back," one user remarked.
"I hope they change it a bit for the genesis. Let the rough grow from now until then and play it hard," another fan opined.
"Should have played the Stadium Course again for 72. With a pro set-up," this fan posted.
