Brandel Chamblee recently praised Johnson Wagner for recreating Bryson DeChambeau's bunker shot on the 18th at Pinehurst. On Sunday, June 16, Bryson DeChambeau played a clutch shot from the 18th hole at Pinehurst No. 2 to save par and win the 2024 US Open. He referred to this shot as the best of his professional career.

During the post-event show on Golf Channel, analyst Johnson Wagner recreated the epic shot from the bunker. DeChambeau was also present and later gave his trophy to Wagner after he successfully recreated the shot.

On Tuesday, June 18, Chamblee shared a video on X where he and Wagner were enjoying a watch party of the recreated shot at Pinehurst owner Bob Dedman's residence.

"Sunday night at a party thrown by Pinehurst owner Bob Dedman," he wrote. "Watching Johnson watch his spot of Live From… how can you not love this guy… Bryson or Johnson. What a week. What a Live From spot."

Earlier, Bryson DeChambeau entered the final round of the US Open with a three-stroke lead. However, Rory McIlroy caught him up soon with his impressive start, where he made five birdies in the first 14 holes. DeChambeau, on the other hand, started slow and seemed to have trailed behind the Northern Irishman.

When it looked like McIlroy would end his Major championship drought, he made a putting error on the 16th and another one on the 18th. Two missed putts cost him his second US Open win.

"Bryson is one of the best things to ever happen to golf" - Brandel Chamblee praises Bryson DeChambeau amid the criticism from LIV Golf fans

Responding to the critics, Brandel Chamblee had a few 'nice' things to say about Bryson DeChambeau's US Open success.

"Bryson is one of the best things to ever happen to golf," he wrote. "He’s a reminder that professional golf isn’t just about putting a number on the board but giving back to those that pay for their purses and privilege by fulfilling every media obligation, going beyond and further, and giving the fans who stand in line and pay extravagant prices to watch them, more than they could’ve imagined.
"This is food for thought to every PGA tour, LPGA tour and DP world tour player."

The statement came after Brandel Chamblee was accused of not praising DeChambeau enough for his performance at the US Open due to the latter's association with LIV Golf. For the uninitiated, Chamblee has been one of the biggest critics of the Saudi-backed circuit.
