Sportico has reported that PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan earned around $23 million in salary last year, approximately 25% more than in 2022. His compensation included $12.1 million in bonuses, $2.5 million in retirement benefits, $6.7 million in long-term incentive payments, and a base salary of $1.88 million.

As per Sportico, PGA Tour Inc. filed a yearly gross of $4.33 billion that included $1.82 billion from revenue and $2.52 billion from the sale of non-inventory assets.

Fans had mixed reactions to the news of Monahan's income. Here's a look at some reactions:

"How’d he qualified any bonuses?" one fan wrote.
"2025 is gonna be a bad year for PGA Tour, TV ratings are gonna crash after this shit show of money. Good Lord where does it ever end. Jay Monahan at 23 million per year, for freaking what???" another fan commented.
"Well, more than half is bonus, retirement benefits, and long term incentive compensation. He knew what was at stake and turned it into almost $2B for the Tour. Check mate!" this fan remarked.
"Yeah sure if his compensation is based on double and triple talk, playing both sides of the fence, word salad and being an overall disingenuous person, then yes," another fan opined.
"Worst commissioner in pro sports. It's ridiculous he still has a job. Let a rival league take half his top players and he's losing sponsors left and right," one user posted.
"Something tells me that Jay’s reign over the PGA will come to an end in 2025! Let’s see what happens….?" another fan wrote.

Jay Monahan and PIF's Yasir Al-Rumayyan meet in Saudi Arabia

Last month, Jay Monahan met with PIF Governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan in Saudi Arabia. He was accompanied by other members of the PGA Tour. According to Bunkered, both were in the country for the Aramco Ladies Team Series Riyadh and met during the Pro-Am.

Recently, Monahan and Al-Rumayyan also participated in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship Pro-Am. This marked their first public meeting since the merger announcement.

Earlier this month, Jay Monahan played a round of golf with President-elect Donald Trump at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. According to The Washington Post, the round was initiated by Trump, who has been an advocate of LIV Golf since the league's inception.

It will be interesting to see how the PGA Tour-LIV Golf relationship develops with Trump ascending to the presidency in 2025.
