Tiger Woods' son Charlie Woods’ first-ever ace at a professional tournament was at the PNC Championship. The hole-in-one on the 4th hole traveled 175 yards at the family event on Sunday. After Charlie's incredible performance alongside his father, Team Woods tied for first with Team Langer at 28 under at the end of day two.
Team Langer, who were the defending champions, secured another consecutive trophy at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando after defeating Team Woods in the playoffs. Three teams tied for third place. Team Duval, Team Harrington, and Team Singh landed in third place with 23 under.
As far as Team Woods’ round-wise performance is concerned, they shot 59 in the first round followed by a 57 in the second round. They carded 13 birdies in the first round and 13 birdies in the second round along with an eagle.
Before this, Team Woods had another runner-up finish in 2021 when Team Daly won. Apart from the 2024 and 2021 PNC Championships, Team Woods played in three more editions in 2020, 2022, and 2024, where the golfers landed at T7, T8, and T5 respectively.
What did Charlie Woods and Tiger Woods say about Charlie's ace on Sunday?
After achieving the feat of having his first hole-in-one, Charlie Woods described his post-round joy in an interview. Woods junior said (via PGA Tour):
“It was awesome…No one made a mistake today, so that was some of the most fun I've ever had. On top of that, I made an ace. I don't think I can top that. It was awesome.”
Tiger Woods described the hole-in-one moment as "unbelievable" and said:
“It was an unbelievable moment…That was the thrill of a lifetime…That's one of the highlights we've ever had. On the hole previous, he made his first eagle (in a previous PNC), and now he just made his first hole-in-one. It's a magical two-hole stretch. I'm just so happy for him and for the enjoyment we had as a family. To be out there with Bernie and Jason, it was a lot of fun ... It was back and forth, nobody made a mistake today; we had to earn it, and that was the joy of it.”
He added:
“I'm nowhere near competitive shape. I'm a great scramble partner. We made a great team this week, and that's the whole joy of it, is to be out here with family and bonding and just the enjoyment of each other's company.”
The PNC Championship was Tiger Woods' first competitive event this year after the Open Championship, where he missed the cutline. He also missed out on the Hero World Challenge, a PGA Tour event the 15-time major winner hosts.
