With the Sunday win at Royal Troon, Schauffele became the latest player to win two majors in a single season. A couple of months ago, he had won the PGA Championship, beating Bryson DeChambeau by one stroke.

On Sunday, July 22, Xander Schauffele fired a 6-under 65 to win the Open Championship, his second major. He aggregated at 9-under after four rounds, beating Justin Rose and Billy Horschel by two strokes.

This feat has happened only 33 times in the history of the majors. Gene Sarazen was the first player to achieve it, winning the US Open and the PGA Championship in 1922. Bobby Jones was the first player to do it twice, winning the US Open and the Open Championship twice each, in 1930 and 1932.

Jack Nicklaus has achieved the magical double the highest number of times, doing so five times in his career. Tiger Woods has also accomplished this four times (2000, 2002, 2005, 2006) in his career.

Moreover, Tiger is the only player after Ben Hogan (1953) to win three major championships in one year. He did it in 2000, winning the US Open, the Open Championship, and the PGA Championship. Notably, these three major wins were part of his 'Tiger Slam,' where he held all four majors simultaneously.
