Chanettee Wannasaen won the 2024 Dana Open on Sunday (July 21). The 20-year-old Thai golfer finished the final round with a four-under 67 to take a one-stroke win at the Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio. She beat Haeran Ryu to win the trophy.

Wannasaen registered her second win on the LPGA Tour after last year's Cambia Portland Classic triumph. With the win, she became the third Thai golfer to win this season. Wannasaen bagged the $262,500 winner’s paycheck from the event’s $1,750,000 prize purse. Apart from the paycheck, she also won some valuable ranking points.

It is pertinent to note that Wannasaen, who started the final round with a three-stroke lead, had tough competition from Ryu. The 23-year-old South Korean golfer, who was the 2023 Rookie of the Year, soon closed the gap. However, the Thai star bounced back with back-to-back birdies on the 17th and 18th holes to take the winning lead.

Chanettee Wannasaen said after her Dana Open win, as quoted by The Nation Thailand:

“Last year I won in Portland but could never have imagined winning because I missed the cut in nine events and then won after Monday qualifying. But this year, I was looking for my second trophy. The feeling is very different. In Portland, I felt free; now I'm aiming for my third trophy. I think it’s coming.”

LPGA's Dana Open prize money payout

While Chanettee Wannasaen bagged the major share of the Dana Open’s $1,750,000 prize purse, Haeran Ryu took home $159,008 for finishing runner-up. Ssu-Chia Cheng and Linn Grant won $102,290 each for sharing T3, while Mary Liu and Xiyu Lin got $65,292 for T5.

Six golfers shared T7 -- Dottie Ardina, Jasmine Suwannapura, Celine Borge, Stacy Lewis, Sarah Kemp and Hye-Jin Choi bagged $38,232 each for sharing the position. Notably, the Dana Open celebrated "Lexi Day" on Friday to honor Lexi Thompson during her final season on Tour. The 29-year-old finished T-19 and flew back home with $17,672 in the bank.

Rachel Rohanna finished last on the Dana Open’s 80-player leaderboard. The golfer got $3,065 for her efforts.
