The RBC Heritage had quite the field in it despite it being placed right after the Masters on the schedule. Often, the tournament right after a Major sees some star players back out. Not everyone played this weekend, but the field was good and they all gave it their best shot at taking home the top prize of the $20 million prize purse.
Scottie Scheffler emerged victorious at the Harbour Town Golf Links on Monday and took home an impressive $3.6 million. It was another Signature Event on tour, and it offered the chance to make a serious payday. It also marked the fourth win in five starts for Scheffler.
He had a brilliant fourth round that got him $3.6 million. Of his latest four wins, they've all carried similar prize purses, and the World No. 1 is adding a good amount to his career earnings as a result.
Scottie Scheffler adds more to season earnings
Scottie Scheffler topped the leaderboard for the fourth time in five starts. Here's who he defeated:
- 2: Sahith Theegala, -16
- T3: Wyndham Clark, -15
- T3: Patrick Cantlay, -15
- T5: Justin Thomas, -14
- T5: JT Poston, -14
- T5: Patrick Rodgers, -14
- T5: Sepp Straka, -14
- 9: Collin Morikawa, -13
It was another triumphant outing for the world number one golfer. He has been on an all-time run recently, winning four starts in five. The only "loss" was a T2 in the Houston Open, and he missed a putt for the tie on the 18th hole.
Those wins also include the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Players Championship and of course, the Masters. Scheffler's win coming off that Masters outing is impressive since he experienced no hangover whatsoever.
It is also yet another high paycheck. The prize purses on PGA Tour are all up, but especially Majors, the Players and Signature Events, which both the RBC Heritage and Arnold Palmer Invitational are.
His yearly earnings are already over $18 million thanks to his performance at the Heritage.
There seems to be no end in sight for Scheffler's run of dominance. His current form implies there's far more to come. Only Nelly Korda is playing at a more successful level in the entire sport of golf, as she's won five in a row including a Major.
Scheffler will look to continue his hot streak and continue earning a lot of money. He is already over $21 million for the season, and performances like this will send that figure skyrocketing.
