The Asian Tour kicked off its 2023 season with the PIF Saudi International this weekend. The event began on February 2 and will conclude on Sunday, February 5.

The event, broadcast by the Golf Channel, has gained a lot of interest despite its dates clashing with the PGA Tour’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the DP World Tour’s Ras al Khaimah Championship.

The PIF Saudi International features a 126-player field. The event started off with a packed field, which included several LIV Golf players as well. However, viewers were in for a shock as the top names began crashing out of the tournament one by one.

While favorite Dustin Johnson opted out with an injury, big names like Phil Mickelson, Cam Smith and Bryson Dechambeau failed to make the cut.

On Saturday, Abraham Ancer was leading the 2023 Saudi International leaderboard. He was closely followed by Cameron Young, trailing by two shots. Lucas Herbert, Matthew Wolff and Thai golfer Sadom Kaewkanjana are the others in contention for the top prize.

The 2023 Saudi International purse has a total prize purse of $5 million. According to the Asian Tour's prize money distribution chart, the winner of the event will bag $1,000,000, which is above the standard 18 per cent payout.

Currently, the top 65 players and ties remaining in the competition will all earn money on Sunday.

While the winner gets $1,000,000, the runner-up will settle for a paycheck of $525,000. The third-placed golfer will bag $315,000, while the fourth-place finisher will go home with $250,000. Meanwhile, the player finishing 65th in the table will earn $13,500 for his efforts.
