Most of the professional golfers struggled with their game. However, there was a surprising performance from English golfer Daniel Brown, who topped the leaderboard with a score of -6.

Following the opening round, professional golfers, including Jason Day, Nicolai Højgaard, and Gary Woodland, discussed how much a scratch golfer will score at the venue.

All the professional golfers predicted high scores, above 80 or even more. Australian golfer Jason Day, who scored +2, predicted that a scratch golfer would score in the low 80s. He said (via DP World Tour on X):

Gary Woodland, who teed off for the first round with Ernie Els, predicted that a scratch golfer would score around 95.

"95. I played with Ernie today, you know...Ernie's probably+6, so....I would be say 95. It's tough out there! If you miss one shot, you'll have a big number so. Especially with the crowds out there, maybe 100," said Woodland.

Meanwhile, Nicolai Højgaard believed it would have been around 80-85.

"A scratch golfer would probably shoot.. I'm struggling to see them break 80 around here. 80-85. On a good day."

"A scratch golfer would have shot 88 today. You know, might've been able to sneak in a birdie. But definitely a lot of bogeys and others out there."

Victor Perez also commented on the score-scratch golfers would have at the venue. He said:

"On a half-decent day, I would say 83?82? I think the course kind of wares on you. On a half-decent day, I would say 83?82? I think the course kind of wares on you. I think it's kind of difficult to keep on. It's not like you have a stretch of 4-5 holes, then you get a breather. You know it's quite difficult for...for five and a half hours, so ....I'd say a solid 83 on a half-decent day."

Adrian Meronk also believed a scratch golfer would score around 83 at the venue.

"83. It was just tough, and the front nine was brutal. I was hitting my eight iron 120 yards! It was just quite tough," Meronk said.
