Tyrrell Hatton has played in three editions of the Ryder Cup, always making the team through direct qualification. Speaking from Team Cup 2025 venue in Abu Dhabi, Hatton said he hopes to continue that streak in the 2025 edition.
Following Great Britain and Ireland's victory in the Team Cup, Hatton addressed the issue of his chances of playing in next September's Ryder Cup. Hatton reiterated his interest in being part of Luke Donald's team.
This is part of what Tyrrell Hatton had to say (via ASAP Sports):
"I guess Luke [Donald] knows what I'm capable of, or the type of golf that I can produce. Yeah, my job is harder to automatically qualify for the team but I have five events to do that. So yeah, I'm going to give it my best. And my last three Ryder Cups, I've managed to automatically qualify, and I'd love to keep that streak going."
The five tournaments referenced by Hatton are the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, which takes place January 16-19, and the four Major championships of the 2025 season. Due to his commitment to LIV Golf, Hatton will not be able to play in the remaining eligible events.
However, Hatton began accumulating points for the ranking months ago, as the period that will be taken into account for the team began with the 2024 British Masters and will end with the 2025 British Masters.
Since the start of the period, Hatton has played five tournaments with three top-10 finishes, including one victory:
- British Masters T18
- Open de España T10
- Alfred Dunhill Links Championship 1
- Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship 2
- DP World Tour Championship 6
Hatton has played in three editions of the Ryder Cup (2018, 2021, 2023), winning twice.
