The 2025 Ryder Cup is all set to begin in September, and Keegan Bradley will be captaining Team USA at the biennial event. Ahead of this much-awaited competition between Team USA and Team Europe, it's worth pondering upon what veteran golfer John Daly once said about captaincy.

In 2015, when Daly was 49 years old, he gave an interview in which he expressed his desire to captain Team USA against the Europeans at the Ryder Cup. It's worth noting that in his career as a golfer, Daly never played for Team USA in the Ryder Cup. However, speaking about his captaincy ambitions, the 1995 Open Championship winner said:

"Hopefully I would one day be a captain, it would be fun. I don't know if I fit the mold. I don't know if I fit what the PGA of America would want. All I know is my team, if I was a captain, we'd have a blast. I'd make sure they had a blast. You don't want to wear a tie, don't wear a tie. Have fun. It's supposed to be fun."

Known to be an entertaining golfer, John Daly also mentioned that he feels the Americans carry a lot of pressure with them when they play at the Ryder Cup. Daly reminded everyone that in the end, golf is a gentleman's game. He added:

"I think we just get wrapped up in it. I think when you're favored to win so many years like the Americans have been, I think we get uptight. Even the matches that we are getting killed in, we are favored in. "I think we put too much pressure on ourselves. Just go out and play golf. It's great to play for your country, but it's still a gentleman's game at the end."

This interview John Daly gave in 2015 didn't help him much as he still hasn't been named captain of Team USA as of this writing. However, it will be interesting to see if Daly gets a chance to captain Team USA at some point in the future.
