Shane Lowry is set to tee off Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's TGL's inaugural match on January 7, 2025. The Irishman, along with Ludvig Aberg, Wyndham Clark, and Min Woo Lee, make up The Bay Golf Club as they take on New York Golf Club.
The Bay Golf Club took to Instagram to promote the match with Lowry. However, the interview did not go as smoothly as planned and resulted in a hilarious interaction. The PGA Tour star came on camera to showcase the team's commitment to excellence before being interrupted by the cameraman.
Lowry said (via Instagram @thebaygolf):
"Hi everybody! We're absolutely thrilled to be representing The Bay Golf Club in TGL. Sadly, I'm the only one who could *cameraman yells cut*. I-Sorry. I f**ked it."
Once he regrouped himself, he came back onto camera to continue his statement only to be interrupted once again. He said:
"Sadly, I'm the only one who can make it today. But that's no reflection on our commitment. The rest of the lads are probably practicing on the virtual greens right now. *The greens are real* Oh, okay. The greens are real, not virtual. Thank you. Well, we can't wait to play in front of our home crowd in San Francisco. *It's in Florida* Oh, f**k. Florida! Makes sense I suppose, better weather. *It's indoor* ... f**ks sake."
Here's a look into Lowry's hilarious interview with The Bay Golf Club's social media team:
Shane Lowry names Kevin Kisner as the "trash talker" and jokes Patrick Cantlay would get fined for slow play
The Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy founded TMRW Sports' TGL conducted an interview with Shane Lowry ahead of the league's inaugural match. In the interview, the Irishman was given 40 seconds to answer some rapid fire questions.
When asked who the biggest trash talker in the league is, Lowry did not hesitate to come up with an answer. He immediately listed Jupiter Links GC's Kevin Kisner and stated that he is the "popular answer".
One of the new additions in the TGL is the Shot Clock, which gives players 40 seconds to hit their ball. If a player takes more time, their entire team will receive a one stroke penalty. Lowry said that he is excited about the rule as he's confident that he would be able to play shots in less than 40 seconds. He also joked that Atlanta Drive GC's Patrick Cantlay would end the season with the most Shot Clock violations.
Another interesting addition to TGL is the Hot Mic. Players will have mics surrounding them at all times during the live broadcast of the matches. When asked who he thinks would be the first to curse on the Hot Mic, Lowry hilariously put his hand up in the air with a smile.
