Paige Spiranac recently shared a 'sad but funny' story behind her Instagram handle @_paige.renee. She is one of the top golf content creators on social media and has more than 15 million followers across all platforms. On Instagram alone, she has more than four million followers.

In a recent 'Ask me a question' session on her Instagram, a fan asked Spiranac whether her name was Paige Spiranac or Paige Renee. The 31-year-old golf influencer said:

"So, this is actually kind of a sad but funny story. My full name is Paige Renee Spiranac. Renee is my middle name. In college, during my senior year, I was getting harassed and stalked by a group of girls. I decided to get rid of all of my social media."

Spiranac did her senior year at San Diego State University. She added that she eventually came back on social media but kept her username as Paige Renee, thinking it would make her harder to find. She started posting golf content thinking that no one would bully someone who solely shared golf-related posts. She further said:

"A couple of months later, I ended up going viral, and my username has stayed as Paige Renee ever since. That’s why it has the underscore and the period. That’s kind of how it all started and why I had just a solely golf account. And, well, that was that."

In a recent YouTube video, Paige Spiranac shared that she initially had 500 followers. However, after winning the Colorado Match Play Tournament and being featured by Total Frat Move, her followers went from 500 to 100,000 overnight.

Further, Spiranac said she'll be nicer to herself in 2025 and will celebrate her accomplishments more. She said:

"Don't be mean to yourself anymore. In 2025, we're gonna be nice to ourselves. It's not a bad thing to be confident. It's not a bad thing to build yourself up. I see this all the time on social media when someone says something about their accomplishments, or you can talk about that. And that's okay."
