Charley Hull echoed her fellow LPGA Tour professionals' views when it came to the tight-packed golf schedule. The English golfer lives in the UK but usually has to travel from country to country for various tournaments.
In the last few weeks, she has traveled pretty often and finally landed in Riyadh for this week's Aramco Team Series Championship. Hull was in Malaysia for the Maybank Championship prior to competing in Riyadh.
In a recent interview, Charley Hull opened up about the hectic schedule, saying (via Golf.com):
"I just want to go home. Unless it’s in the UK. Like, I can go from Evian to British to Scottish. I turned pro when I was 16 years old. Now I’m 28. I have to have a bit of a life in between.”
Fellow golfer Alison Lee also chimed in on having to frequently travel worldwide to participate in various tournaments, adding:
“I don’t think there’s one girl out there who says they love going to the airport every single day and going to tournaments every single week, because it’s hard, it’s really hard,” Lee said.
Further discussing the physical toll it takes during the long journeys, Alison said:
"It’s hard on our bodies. Especially when we travel internationally and spend hours and hours on the road, packing, unpacking, and a lot of the time, a lot of us travel alone as well. So, if we’re going to the airport, we have two, three, four suitcases. Dragging it through the airport, slowly making our way to the next event, renting a car, getting to the hotel room. It can get pretty lonely at times," she added.
This season on the LPGA Tour, Charley Hull competed in 15 tournaments and recorded four finishes in the top 10.
Charley Hull breaks two-year winless drought at Aramco Team Series Riyadh
At the recently concluded Aramco Team Series Riyadh, Charley Hull finally broke her two-year winless streak and clinched the trophy. She registered a three-stroke win over Nicole Broch Estrup at the LET event.
Speaking of her win, Hull said (Travel and Tour World):
"Yeah, I felt really sharp, I played very solidly today. I made a bogey on the par five 17th and the par three, but that was just two three putts. So quite long putts, in all fairness, and they got away from me a little bit, but felt like I held my game together pretty well. And 18 under for three days is a pretty good score.”
Hull last won a tournament prior to the Aramco Team Series Riyadh in 2022 at the Volunteers of America Classic, an LPGA Tour event. She registered a one-stroke win over Lin Xiyu. However, her last win on the Ladies European Tour was in 2021 at the Aramco Team Series-New York, where she registered a one-stroke win over Nelly Korda.
