Switzerland golfer Morgane Metraux is the clubhouse leader on day two of the women's golf event at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The 27-year-old played exceptional golf to take the lead, especially on the front nine.

Metraux teed off in the second group on day two, carding -6 for the day and remaining -8 for the event. She made the most of the easier conditions and said in the post-round interview (via Olympics.com):

"So there was barely any wind this morning. Perfect conditions and the course is just perfect. Like if you hit a good putt, you know it's going to go in because the greens are rolling so well. I was really calm. I knew my game is in a good spot, and I was rolling it well."

She talked about the difference between yesterday's and today's rounds and said it has given her confidence going ahead.

"Yeah, it was actually surprisingly very calm starting the round. The difference between yesterday and today at the beginning is just the putts that fell. Yeah, it just brought me confidence going forward, and just tried to stay as present as I could and one shot at a time. Yeah, it went pretty well."

She had an exceptional start to her second round with four birdies and two eagles on the front nine. Metraux surprised everyone with her start and took an outright lead with -8 on the front nine. The overnight leader, Celine Boutier, struggled, losing her lead as she carded +4 for the day.

Metraux had the chance to run away with the lead, but unfortunately, she struggled to maintain her game on the back nine. The 27-year-old golfer carded just one birdie but dropped three shots, bringing her score down to -8 as she remained +2 on the back nine.

Despite that, Metraux took the clubhouse lead, while a few golfers are yet to finish their second round. China's Ruoning Yin is two strokes behind her at -6 and is yet to finish her round.

Former medalist Lydia Ko is also in contention as she finished her round and is three strokes behind the leader at -5. So, fans are expecting a cliffhanger of a finish in the women's golf event at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
