"I lost my socks in a putting contest" - Bryson DeChambeau shares hilarious interaction with Aussie fans

Bryson DeChambeau recalled a hilarious interaction with the fans in Australia while he and his LIV Golf mates were down there for the Adelaide tournament. DeChambeau placed T26 with a -10 showing, but what he'll remember most is one fan's request during a putting contest.

DeChambeau said in a video on X:

"I'm [going to] sign their hats if I make a ten-footer. If I don't make it, what do you want?"

The fan responded hilariously that he wanted to take the golfer's socks if he didn't hit the putt. DeChambeau said:

"You want my socks? All right, I'll give him the socks."

The next portion of the video showed DeChambeau's attempt at the ten-foot putt, which went just narrowly wide to the left. True to his word, a grinning DeChambeau took off his socks and gave them to the fan in the stands.

Doing a bit of a walk of shame out of the area, he revealed to bystanders:

"I lost my socks in a putting contest. Someone wanted my socks, I missed the putt."

He also revealed that he signed the pair of socks after Dustin Johnson called the request "disgusting". Nevertheless, it was an interaction that stuck with DeChambeau, who called Aussie fans "unmatched" in the caption of his video.

The LIV Golf star is known for his social media activity and his desire to reach a wider and younger audience for golf. This is another in a long line of attempts to continue growing the game online, and it seems to have worked. The video had 220 thousand views at the time of writing.

After he left Adelaide and all the interesting fans down there, Bryson DeChambeau turned it around with an astonishing performance at the PGA Championship. The LIV star shot 20 under across four rounds.

Unfortunately, it wasn't quite enough. Xander Schauffele captured his first career Major with a birdie putt on the 18th hole to break the tie with DeChambeau. It was still an inspiring performance that DeChambeau is proud of.

Next up is, after the LIV Golf tournament in early June, the U.S. Open. It's DeChambeau's chance to prove that the PGA Championship wasn't a fluke and to get his second Major trophy.

Ironically, he is using YouTube videos for help. He has finally embraced who he is on the golf course, and it might've spurred his epic outing at Valhalla. He said via Golf Monthly:

"It's actually funny, YouTube has helped me understand that a little bit more. When the moment comes, knowing what to do, what to say, how to act is really important."
