“I'm not answering this question” - Ruoning Yin gets candid while comparing winning at home in China to a Major championship

Following her Buick LPGA Shanghai win, Ruoning Yin said that she loved winning at home as well as a Major equally. She added that it was special to win in front of the home crowd and her family.

On Sunday, October 13, Yin fired a low 8-under 64 in the final round to finish at 25-under after 72 holes. She secured a commanding six-shot win over Mao Saigo and Sei Young Kim to claim her fourth title on the LPGA Tour.

During the winner's press conference, Ruoning Yin was put on the spot by a journalist, who asked her to compare the significance of a Major win and a home win.

"I would say, I'm not answering this question," she replied. "I would say it's the same. I love to win major and I just love to win at home as well. Just all the crowds, all the fans, all my family, words can't express my feelings right now."

For the uninitiated, Yin won the 2023 Women's PGA Championship, beating Yuka Saso by one-stroke margin.

The 22-year-old Chinese golfer also heaped praise on the Shanghai crowd for immense support throughout the week.

"It gives me goosebumps when I think about it right now. I mean, all the fans, the energy, it's just phenomenal. I can hear people shouting my name and rooting for me. I think I'm just really happy that I put on a show and that everybody enjoys it," she added.
