Fans on social media were skeptical about Jason Day's recent claim that LIV Golf was not interested in signing him owing to his injury record. The Aussie golfer opened up about his negotiation deal with the Saudi-backed circuit.

In a recent interview with Code Sports Australia, the former World No. 1 revealed that he didn’t get a chance to "knock back" the LIV Golf contract, as the series seemingly was not interested in having him on the circuit. He said (as quoted by Golf Digest):

"I didn’t knock it back. What happened was, it was a business move to just go in and explore the potential of what would happen. I said [to my agent], ‘No worries, I’m happy with where I’m at, but it’s always nice to know.’ And they [LIV Golf] said, ‘We love Jason, but he’s too injured; he just gets too many injuries.’"

Jason Day's comments on his negotiations to join LIV Golf were recently shared by Flushing It Golf on its X (formerly Twitter) account.

However, fans in the comment section were skeptical about it, writing:

"I’m calling bullshit on that J Day," a fan wrote.
"Got to be more to it than that as injury records haven’t universally been a barrier to LIV signings (Paul Casey?). Plus Day still had the type of player profile that LIV would have benefitted from in the early days, particularly when you think of some of the guys they signed," another fan wrote.

Meanwhile, another fan claimed that LIV tried to sign another Australian golfer, Adam Scott first.

"First person they tried to sign was @AdamScott," the fan jotted.

Here are some more fans expressing their doubt about Jason Day's claims:
