After a shocking opening round at the US Women's Open, Nelly Korda said there were not many positive thoughts, as she didn't play well. She termed the round as just a bad day at the office.

On Thursday, May 30, the World No. 1 golfer had a horrible start at the US Women's Open. Starting as a tournament favorite, she shot a 10 on par-3 hole 12, her third hole of the day. She hardly recovered from there, as she finished the day at 10-over 80. Her round consisted of six bogeys, one septuple bogey and three birdies.

During the post-round interview, Nelly Korda reflected on her forgettable round. She said that she didn't want to shoot 80 but couldn't stop the bogeys. She added that this was her second straight poor round after she shot 81 in last year's final round.

"I'm human. I'm going to have bad days," she continued. "I played some really solid golf up to this point. Today was just a bad day."

Reflecting on what went wrong, Korda said that she didn't hit well on her first day at Lancaster and kept on finding the roughs throughout the round.

"Making a 10 on a par-3 will definitely not do you any good at a US Open," she added. "I started off really poorly but played pretty well on the back nine. But overall, yeah, just a bad day in the office."

When will Nelly Korda tee off the US Women's Open on Friday?

Nelly Korda is grouped with Nasa Hataoka and Megan Khang for the second round of the US Women's Open. The trio will tee off from the first hole of the Lancaster Country Club on Friday, May 31, at 1:58 pm ET.

While Korda is well below the projected cutline of 4-over, Hataoka and Khang are placed at T35 and T70, respectively. Hataoka carded a 3-over 73, and Khang posted a 5-over 75 in the opening round.

Yuka Saso carded a 2-under 68 on Thursday to take a one-stroke lead after the first round. She made five birdies and bogeyed three holes. Three players are tied for second at 1-under, including amateur Adela Cernousek, who sank three birdies and two bogeys in the first round.

Defending champion Allisen Corpuz was tied for 70th after shooting a 75 in the first round. Besides Korda and Corpuz, players like Rose Zhang, Lexi Thompson, and Brooke M. Henderson are also below the projected cutline ahead of the second round.
