Davis Riley is looking forward to the challenge as he heads into the final round of the 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge. The PGA Tour event at the Colonial Country Club is underway, and after three rounds, Riley tops the leaderboard with a score of 14-under, four strokes ahead of Scottie Scheffler.

The final round of the event will take place on Sunday, May 26, and Riley is confident about playing well and winning. In an interview on Saturday, Riley acknowledged that Scheffler would be a threat on Sunday, given the World No. 1's impressive form this season.

Scheffler has won four events in 2024, including the Masters, and is also a favorite bet to win this week. However, Riley is also playing well this week and looking forward to the challenge in the final round.

Speaking of Scottie Scheffler, Riley said (via PGA Tour):

"I’ve known Scottie for a long time and played a lot of junior golf with him, college golf, and he obviously is playing some really good golf right now. So he’s going to come out swinging, but I’m looking forward to the challenge, and it will be a fun day competing out there.”

It is important to note that Scottie Scheffler jumped 13 positions on the leaderboard after playing a fabulous round of 63 on Saturday. He settled for a total of under par 10 followed by Hayden Buckley in a tie for third place with Pierceson Coody.

The Sunday round of the event will start at 7:55 a.m. ET, with Tyler Duncan taking the first shot of the day. Riley and Scheffler will tee off at 1:50 p.m. ET on the first hole.

Scheffler has enjoyed a fabulous season on the PGA Tour this year. He has won four tournaments and tied for second at the Texas Children's Houston Open in 2024. He last competed at the PGA Championship and settled for a tie for eighth place.

The American has played in 11 events this season, winning four of them and having 10 top-10 finishes. The American Express is the only tournament this season in which Scheffler finished outside the top 10. He tied for 17th place at the event.

Davis Riley, on the other hand, has played in 14 tournaments and missed the cut in seven of them. His best this season was recorded at Texas Children's Houston Open, where he finished in T14. Heading into the final of the 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge, it would be interesting to witness if Riley could win the event.
