Xander Schauffele is in Japan this week for the 2024 Zozo Championship. The two-time Major championship winner is enjoying his time in the country as he shares a special bond with Japan. Apart from winning the gold medal in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, Schauffele's mother was raised in this country.

Hence, the PGA Tour conducted a special interview with the golfer and his parents and shared it on their Instagram handle. Talking about his family roots, Schauffle said he is the only member in his family who was born in the US.

"I’m the only one born in the US in my family. But for me to be here, it definitely feels like home," Schauffele said.
"My dad is half French and half German, and my mom was born in Taiwan and grew up here in Japan. So discipline and sort of focus and those are sort of staples and pillars. And I guess even though it was sort of cross-culture, those were very, you know, those were common denominators that sat in our family," the 31-year-old golfer said.

Xander Schauffele then revealed that he was mischievous as a child. He said he would climb random poles to hide because no one would look up at a light pole and he would wait to see their reaction.

The 2024 Champion Golfer of the Year then expressed his love for Japan.

"From a young age, I remember it being very family-oriented, and then as I got older, you know, my first pro event was in Japan. So I guess my love for Japan has grown," Schauffele concluded.
