After his contract ended and rumors swirled that LIV Golf was moving on, Greg Norman is no longer the CEO of the rebel circuit. He has been replaced by Scott O'Neil, the former CEO of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment. He has also been involved in the roles with the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils.

Norman exits after helping grow LIV from an idea into a legitimate tour with some of the world's most notable players involved. He offered his congratulations to O'Neil on the new position and will remain involved with the tour despite losing his CEO status.

He said in a statement via the LIV website:

“First and foremost, congratulations to Scott. He is exactly the type of experienced professional who understands the unique and powerful combination of entertainment and sports that LIV Golf exemplifies. The league will be in very good hands with him at the helm."

Norman said that he began his journey over 30 years ago, knowing that "players were undervalued, delivering a product that felt stagnant." He believes that with LIV Golf, the sport has changed forever. He thanked Chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan for giving him the opportunity and for knowing what was possible with this venture.

Al-Rumayyan said:

“When we launched LIV Golf, there was no one that made more sense to lead the organization other than Greg Norman. I thank him for everything he has done to establish, launch and grow our league. He has been instrumental to LIV’s success.”

Norman said he's excited to continue helping LIV and thrilled to see what the future has to offer.

He continued in a statement via LIV:

“LIV Golf is the world’s first global golf league and, with the best teams and players competing around the world, it represents sports entertainment at the highest level."

He called what the tour has accomplished in such a short time "remarkable," and added that golf game has been given a shot in the arm. He praised the team model, increased player freedom, and fan access in new markets that golf has long ignored.

O'Neil added:

“There has never been a better time to unlock real financial investment, bring team golf and innovation to the forefront, drastically lower the fan age demographic, and put fan experience and fun at the center of everything we do. LIV Golf represents the future of the sport and will ensure the future of the golf ecosystem for years to come.”

Greg Norman served three full years in his role as CEO.
