"I respect it": Golf insider celebrates PGA Tour's "progress" in the meme department

Barstool Sports' Sam 'Riggs' Bozoian recently took to X to share an insight into an internal meme by the PGA Tour featuring him. Although the golf influencer claimed that he was portrayed in an "unflattering light", he respected the "progress".

Riggs is one of the biggest influencers in golf. His and his friends' YouTube channel, Barstool Sports has 1.84M subscribers. He took to X to share the amusing story about the meme that he said was "not nice".

"The PGA Tour just shared during our Council meeting an internal meme in which I was depicted in quite the unflattering light. Not nice but honestly, I respect it. Feels like progress."

Fans made some guesses in the comments section as to what might be the subject of the meme, with some thinking the meme may have taken a dig at Riggs' swing at the TGL. However, it is still unclear what the meme was about.

PGA Tour shifts the venue of Genesis Invitational in midst of the LA wildfires

The PGA Tour had been considering moving the Genesis Invitational traditionally held at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California amid the horrific LA wildfires. The league has finally taken the call and will be switching the event to another location.

The Riviera neighbourhood has suffered significant losses with reportedly 23,000 acres of land ravaged by the fires. There are currently two active fires according to reports.

The new venue for the Genesis Invitational is still not confirmed. The PGA Tour said on it's website:

"The PGA TOUR’s focus continues to be on the safety and well-being of those affected by the unprecedented natural disaster in Greater Los Angeles. We are grateful for the life-saving efforts of first responders and the tireless work being done to put an end to the tragic wildfires."

The Genesis Invitational is hosted by Tiger Woods. It will take place from February 13th to 16th 2025. The legendary golfer commented on the situation (via BBC):

"As of right now we're not really focused on the tournament. It's more about what we can do to help everyone who's struggling, who's lost homes and had their lives changed,"

Golf is the latest sport to move an event due to disastrous fires. The NBA, NFL and NHL have already either moved or postponed a number of games.

The Riviera Country Club is set to host the men's and women's golf events at the LA 2028 Olympics.
