30-year-old Lee Chieh po won the LIV Golf Promotions and earned a spot in the Saudi-backed league for the 2025 season. He became the first player from Chinese Taipei to earn full status to play in LIV Golf.
At the recently concluded LIV Golf Promotions, Lee Chieh Po, whose English name is Max, registered a two-stroke win. He was impressive in the final two rounds of the tournament on Saturday, December 14, and settled with a total of 10-under. Following the win, Lee Chieh po candidly talked about his victory. He said (via LIV Golf):
“It means a lot for our players. LIV Golf, I think it’s many players’ dream. I go there and they will come.”
Notably, the 2024 LIV Golf season wrapped up with its finale earlier in September. With that, the top-25 in season standings have secured their spots for the 2025 season.
A look into Lee Chieh-po's performance at LIV Golf Promotions
The LIV Golf Promotions event was a four-day tournament. It started with its first round on December 12, and after that, only the top 20 and their ties qualified for the second round.
After that, again the scores were reset, and the top 20 on the leaderboard secured the spots in the final two rounds. The final two rounds were held on Saturday, December 14, and finally, it was Lee Chieh po who won the event.
Lee Chieh po finished in the top 20 after the first round and earned the spot for the second round. On Friday, December 13, he started the game with a birdie on the first hole and then shot three more birdies. He played a bogey-free round and settled in a tie for 10th place at 4-under, earning a spot in the final two rounds.
The 30-year-old was highly impressive in the third round as he shot a round of 7-under. He started the game on the 12th hole with a birdie and then shot two more birdies on the 14th and 16th and another on the 17th.
However, he struggled on the 18th and shot a bogey but then added five more birdies and a bogey on the second hole. He scored 7-under in the third round and took the lead in the game by two shots.
In the final fourth round, Lee Chieh po started on the first hole and shot a birdie on the second. He carded five birdies and two bogeys in the round and, with a total of 10-under, registered an easy two-shot win in the game over Taichi Ko and Branden Grace.
Ollie Schniederjans, B. Coletta, and J. Buchanan tied for fourth place after the final round of the LIV Golf Promotions, while M. Rottluff settled for solo seventh place.
