Golf influencer Grace Charis recently opened up about why she picked up the sport. Initially, she didn’t choose golf for the love of the game, but rather due to circumstances. She was also trying to gain views and get into popular contests. However, she is now focused on becoming more credible in the sport and earning respect as an athlete.

Charis is currently one of the most popular golf influencers, with over 3.5 million followers on Instagram. She is also quite popular on TikTok, where she rose to fame with her slow-motion videos of swinging clubs in stylish outfits.

Grace Charis recently discussed her journey in an interview with Alison Root of Golf Monthly.

"I like the edginess of having your booty and body shape showing in the golf swing, but when I first got into it, I wasn’t trying to be a golfer," she said. "It was more about trying to get views and be in the creator's space. I let social media dictate what I’m wearing - this outfit does well, or this outfit is not doing as well."

Charis wanted to be a rower, but COVID-19 derailed her journey, prompting her to pick up golf instead. She revealed that she was influenced by Brooke Monk, who gained recognition for her lip-sync videos on TikTok.

"She gets so many views, she posts every single day. She’s a hard worker and she’s beautiful. Looking at what she does and how she handles social media has helped me get into it, and I’m in a different place now than I was when I started," she added.

"I'm edging my way into that by being good at golf" - Grace Charis says she is trying to get better in golf and earn credibility

Although Grace Charis initially started playing golf for attention, she is now determined to improve her game. She regularly practices with her coach and has achieved a 5 handicap in a short amount of time.

"It’s a weird way into the game," she said, "But I’m trying to get better because a lot of people see me as just some online chick that’s trying to make money and sell things. I’m not seen as a golfer, but I’m edging my way into that by being good at golf and posting videos of great shots."

Grace Charis has made significant progress in her game, recently shooting 76 at the 2024 Tension Park Club Championship. Additionally, she made her first ace a few months ago on the par-3, 144-yard hole at the Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst.
