Hollywood star Tom Holland is a well-known golf enthusiast. He recently demonstrated his passion for the sport by stating that he does not plan to continue acting indefinitely and that the sport is a part of his future after he retires.
Holland gave an interview to Men's Health in which he discussed a variety of topics, including his career plans. The protagonist of several Spider-Man movies assured that he plans to stop acting after becoming a father but that he will alternate his parental duties with playing the game.
This was part of what Holland said:
"When I have kids, you will not see me in movies anymore. Golf and dad. And I will just disappear off the face of the earth."
In the same interview, Holland recalled the opportunity he recently had to play with PGA Tour star Tommy Fleetwood. Here is part of what he had to say:
"It was the best day of my life. I called my lady and was like, ‘Listen, I’m thinking of turning pro'".
Tom Holland's engagement to his longtime girlfriend Zendaya was recently announced. Almost a year ago (April 2024), Zendaya echoed similar sentiments in an interview with Vogue:
"I don’t necessarily want my kids to have to deal with this. And what does my future look like? Am I going to be a public-facing person forever?"
Holland, worth $25 million (per Celebrity Net Worth), has been a single digit handicapper for several years. In his interview for Men's Health, he stated that his current handicap is an excellent 2.9.
A look into Tom Holland's relationship with golf
Tom Holland said in an interview with People in 2021 that he was "addicted" to golf. According to what he said at the time, the sport allowed him to keep his feet on the ground in the midst of the fame generated by his acting career. He said:
"Golf is incredibly humbling... it will very, very quickly humble me by destroying me. So, that's why golf is valuable."
Holland regularly competes in pro-am tournaments, both at major championships and other important events on the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour. He also participates in promotional events and challenges related to the sport.
His brothers Sam and Harry are also keen golfers and all three are regular competitors. They recently played together in the Celebrity Pro-Am at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.
A year earlier, the three Holland brothers also participated in the Celebrity Pro-Am and starred in a challenge in which they tried to get an ace in 500 balls.
In the end, none of them were able to complete the challenge, but the YouTube video has been viewed more than 680,000 times.
