Scottie Scheffler was taken into custody by Louisville Metro police on Friday morning. According to reports, the World No. 1 golfer was detained outside the entrance at Valhalla Golf Club for 'a misunderstanding with traffic flow'. However, the golfer’s arrest was registered soon after.
The Louisville Metro police has since updated Scheffler’s arrest with his mugshot. According to the police update, the ace golfer’s arrest was registered at 7:28 a.m. local time. This was hours ahead of his scheduled tee time for Round 2 of the 2024 PGA Championship.

Scottie Scheffler arrested on four charges
A deadly pedestrian crash was reported in the area near Valhalla Golf Course in the early hours of Friday.
According to reports, Scottie Scheffler was trying to cross in the area of the scene of the crash. However, the ace golfer soon arrived at the golf course, tailed by police officers.
While the exact flow of events remains unclear, Scheffler was reportedly followed by cops to the entrance of Valhalla, where the golfer stopped his car. He was seen seated inside the car for 20 to 30 seconds before stepping out. The Masters champion was screamed at by the cops, who handcuffed him and took him into custody.
According to WAVE News, the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) placed the following charges on Scheffler:
- Second-degree assault of a police officer
- Third-degree criminal mischief
- Reckless driving
- Disregarding traffic signals from an officer directing traffic
It's pertinent to note that Scheffler’s arrest has delayed the PGA Championship Round 2 start. According to a PGA announcement, the event is set for 8:35 am ET, and all starting times are delayed by an one hour and 20 minutes.
