In pictures: American actress Kathryn Newton turns heads in stylish golf wear at Alfred Dunhill Links Championship

Actress Kathryn Newton is competing in her third Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. The 2024 edition of the tournament is being played at three Scottish golf courses, including Old Course in St Andrews, Scotland, Carnoustie and Kingsbarn Links. The first round concluded on Thursday, September 3.

Kathryn Newton is paired with Alex Fitzpatrick for the team competition at the tournament this year. She was paired with Matt Wallace (2022) and Connor Syme (2023) in her two previous appearances.

The American actress turned heads with her stylish golf gear at the tournament. She wore a patterned teal and black sweater with a collared shirt underneath and high-waisted black trousers. In the pictures posted by her on Instagram, she can be seen wearing large black sunglasses and a chic navy flat cap. She captioned her post:

"This game is so exciting. Come out and watch on Saturday at @dunhilllinks I’ll be playing the old course at @thehomeofgolf at 9:00 am"

In the pictures, she can be seen holding a golf ball, raising her hand, and posing over the Swilcan Bridge at St. Andrews, with the Old Course Hotel. The official handle of the tournament also posted her pictures on Instagram and captioned them:

"Welcome back to the Home of Golf, @kathrynnewton 👋"

The duo of Kathryn Newton and Alex Fitzpatrick is tied for 52nd after two rounds. In 2023, she tied for 157th with Connor Syme while in 2022, she tied for 117th with Matt Wallace.

Kathryn Newton was born in Newton, Florida. She is also the ambassador of R&A (Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews).

She is currently competing at the 2024 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Talking about competing at the tournament, she said (Alfred Dunhill Links):

"It's an honour to play in this tournament and brings me back to the reason I play the game. A Championship like the Dunhill really opens up my world and makes me realise I’m so lucky to be playing golf, and makes me more determined to encourage more people to play this game, especially girls."

The actress has played golf since childhood. She was part of her high school golf team and wanted to play as a professional golfer until she landed a role in Paranormal Activity 4.

"I was 14 or 15. And you couldn’t pass up on that. It was a huge leading role for me and the film ended up making $150 million. I had the best time of my life. I’m a big advocate of not having just one thing in your life, but at that moment it was a massive opportunity."

"Playing golf is way harder than acting and to be a golfer, at collegiate or professional level, would have taken everything that I had. So now I just play wherever and whenever I can. I just take my clubs with me on set," she added.

Kathryn Newton also told about her first impression of the Old Course, finding it easy at first but later realizing its difficulty. She said that she hoped to inspire people to the game of golf as an R&A ambassador and playing at the tournament gave her the feeling of being a professional golfer.
