The Presidents Cup is almost here, but before everyone tees off, they had the gala. On Tuesday evening, golfers from both sides came together in high fashion to ring in the competition. Everyone was in pristine matching suits, and their spouses or partners were also very well dressed.

The PGA Tour shared some of the official photos from the shoot, including a shot of the two teams side by side. Tomorrow, they will be opponents. On Tuesday, they were able to come together for a nice photo with one team wearing black and the other wearing blue suits.

Another photo shared was of Patrick Cantlay and his partner around the trophy with Xander Schauffele and his. The Americans have dominated this competition, and they may be pictured again with the trophy after the weekend is done.

The teams consist of 12 golfers each. Six were automatic qualifiers based on each side's criteria, and six were chosen by the captains. They will face off in different events over the weekend.

The Presidents Cup hasn't yet begun, but International Team captain Mike Weir knows he has a hard road ahead of him. The International Team has only ever won the competition once and also earned one tie. To break the streak, a Herculean effort may be required.

When asked, he laughed and said that opposing Presidents Cup captain Jim Furyk has a great team, which is the primary hardship. Scottie Scheffler, Collin Morikawa, Wyndham Clark, and the rest of Team USA are among the world's best golfers.

Via ASAP Sports, Weir went on:

"There's always going to be difficult matches. I don't know if there's anything in particular. We don't know how the matches are going to shape up, how the match-ups are going to shake out, so to speak."

He added that either way, "golf is golf" and there will be challenges. For the most part, Weir says the matches are close and anything can happen. The course might play a role in that too.

"I think the golf course presents a great challenge to all the guys, but it brings in a great mix of players, I believe. That's what to me is a sign of a great golf course is."

The course might be his team's best bet, and he believes it will be advantageous to his particular players. Among them are Taylor Pendrith, Hideki Matsuyama, Adam Scott, and Tom Kim. Weir said all players can be relevant on a course like this, which may just pave the way for a surprise win, one his side has been longing for.
