PGA Tour rookie Taylor Dickson makes his 2025 season debut at the Sony Open in Hawaii. He arrived at the tournament with one of the most original golf bags in the field, decorated in an allegory of the popular golf movie Happy Gilmore.

Golfweek journalist Adam Schupak took to his X account (formerly Twitter) to share pictures of the special decoration Dickson chose for his bag, tweeting:

"Taylor Dickson with the swaggiest @swaggolfco bag for Happy Gilmore."

The PGA Tour, meanwhile, also shared images of Dickson's golf bag:

"There are golf bags ... and then there is Taylor Dickson’s Happy Gilmore golf bag"

Dickson assured Schupak that he is a big fan of Happy Gilmore:

"I really wanted a cameo but didn’t get that. I hope the second is somewhat as good. You know how sequels can be sequels."

Dickson's sponsor, Swag, produced his golf bag and also provides him with headwear. According to Schupak, Dickson explained that one of his sponsor's sister companies has the rights to produce equipment with images from other movies and that during the season he may use golf bags and club headcovers with themes from The Big Lebowski, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, and The Godfather, among others.

Who is PGA Tour Rookie Taylor Dickson?

Taylor Dickson is playing his first season as a member of the PGA Tour at the age of 32. He earned his card by finishing sixth on the Korn Ferry Tour money list in 2024.

Dickson began his professional career in 2015 after graduating from Winthrop University. He initially played on mini tours, including the Florida Elite, Coastal Players Tour, and the SwingThought TOUR. It wasn't until 2020 that he debuted on the Korn Ferry Tour. He played five seasons on the PGA Tour feeder circuit, but it wasn't until 2024 that he took off.

In 2024, he played 23 events and won the only two victories of his career at that level, the Astara Chile Classic and the Wichita Open. He missed only two cuts during the season and finished in the top 10 thrice. He also debuted on the PGA Tour in 2024 at the Myrtle Beach Classic. He made the cutline and tied for 69th at 2-over.

Before beginning his professional career, Dickson played collegiate golf for Winthrop University for four seasons (2011 - 2015). During that time, he won the 2013 Pinetree Intercollegiate and qualified for the year's US Amateur. According to Golfweek, he was inspired to pursue a career in professional golf by current LIV Golf player Harold Varner III. Dickson and Varner attended the same high school in North Carolina.
