The 35-year-old golfer had a one-stroke lead going into the final round. Schwartzel was challenging him from behind on the final day but Peter Uihlein holed a cluth putt for par from around 12-feet on the 15th and then carded two birdies on 16th and 18th and eventually won the event by five strokes.
This performance under pressure makes it even more noteworthy considering the challenging conditions at the Doha Golf Club with fast greens and high winds.
"Yeah, it was a good day and yesterday was good as well, it was a very solid weekend. I think I only missed a total of five greens for the weekend around here. When the wind is blowing, that’s pretty good. Felt pretty solid, felt in control," Uihlein told the Asian Tour.
