Is there a ‘bad beef’ fiasco between Team USA and Team Europe for Solheim Cup? Captain Stacy Lewis sheds light

The Solheim Cup will begin on September 13th, with the US taking on Europe at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club. Both teams are preparing hard for the biennial event, and even before the first tee-off, a report of a controversy has emerged. However, Team US captain Stacy Lewis has stepped in to clear the air.

According to sports journalist Jamie Weir, there was a slight fall-out over the houses of Team USA and Team Europe. Team USA was unhappy with Team Europe using a driving range that backed onto the Team US house.

The US had first choice to opt for their house as they are hosting the Solheim Cup. They went ahead with a larger of the two options available, while Team Europe opted for a house just beside Team US, featuring a driving range with four bays.

Team US claimed that according to the Solheim Cup contract, Europe isn't allowed to open the driving bay doors or place any tables and chairs outside, according to the report.

The Team US skipper Stacy Lewis has recently dismissed these reports, saying there was no "bad beef."

"There’s no bad beef. Their team room kind of exploded onto the driving range a little bit, but we reeled it in. It’s all good. We adjusted the way the range was set up a little bit and moved the US Team further down so Europe could do what they wanted basically."

Lewis added,

"The inside of their (European team's) cottage doesn’t have a lot of room for tables, so their tables have to be outside. It was just our players were warming up, and they’re there eating breakfast and talking. We were just trying to get everybody some space so they didn’t have to listen to them eating breakfast. That’s all. There’s no bad beef."

The Team US skipper said the team is satisfied with the house, given they have eight bathrooms and eight showers. She added there was some awkwardness with the driving range and other facilities being in close proximity, but the team has worked through the issues.
