Corey Conners is in contention to win at the 2023 PGA Championship. With the Oak Hil Country Club course being a rather hard one for the golfers, especially with the unpredictable weather, Conners sits second on the leaderboard going into the last round of the PGA Championship.

Corey Conners is not a LIV Golfer. He plays on the PGA Tour. Conners has also won on the Tour before, but he is looking to become only the second Canadian golfer behind Mike Weir to pick up a win at a major. The 31-year-old has won the Valero Texas Open twice, in 2019 and 2023.

He made the field for the PGA Championship after making the top 70 on the PGA's point list. Conners played golf at Kent State University before turning pro in 2015. He is currently ranked 25th in the OWGR points.

What will happen if Corey Conners wins the PGA Championship?

If Corey Conners were to take the win at the PGA Championship, he would earn a five-year exemption at the PGA Tour. He would also earn automatic qualification to all four majors for the next five years. To add to that, he would also walk away with an impressive $3.6 million.

The third round at the PGA Championship was particularly hard for the golfers, with rain pouring down, making it hard to play the course. Speaking after the third round, Conners said via ESPN:

“It was a real battle out there. The course was challenging from the get-go. Faced a lot of the elements, but I’m definitely happy with the way I played. I was definitely ready for the challenge today.”

However, Conners faces tough competition. Two-time PGA Championship winner Brooks Koepka is leading this weekend and shows no signs of stopping. To add to that Scottie Scheffler, Viktor Hovland and Justin Rose are also in the mix to take a win.

Mike Weir, the first Canadian to have won a major, also said that Conners had the ability to win. He believes that Conners has the experience to strive under pressure and win the PGA Championship.

"He's just such a consistent, level-headed young man. He's put himself in the mix enough now, and I think his confidence level is just getting higher."
