DeChambeau is known for making adjustments to his golf gear. He played with a set of 3D-printed irons at the 2024 Masters . Speaking about his unique equipment, DeChambeau said (via NY Post):
“I designed them with someone from back home, and they have just got a different curvature on the face than other equipment. Most equipment is flat. These have a different curvature on the face that allows me to have my mis-hits to go a little straighter sometimes."
Notably, DeChambeau has had a successful season, winning his second Major in the form of the 2024 US Open.
Bryson DeChambeau reveals use of modified golf balls with a salty coating at US Open
Earlier this year, during the 2024 US Open, Bryson DeChambeau revealed a unique strategy that helped him keep his tee shots balanced. The American golfer is known for his innovative approach to the game and is often called "The Scientist" by his fans due to his innovative techniques.
During the third round of the Major, DeChambeau revealed that he dipped his tee balls into Epsom salt to ensure they were "not out of balance." He shared a video of his interview on his official X account, explaining his method:
"I put my golf balls in Epsom salt. I'm lucky enough that Connor, my manager, does that now. I don't have to do it. But essentially, we float golf balls in a solution to make sure that the golf ball is not out of balance," DeChambeau said.
Perhaps the salty balls proved advantageous, as DeChambeau went on to win the 2024 US Open.
The golfer has enjoyed an exceptional season this year. He finished in the top 10 in three of the four Majors he played in 2024, winning the US Open. Additionally, on the LIV Golf circuit, he competed in 11 tournaments this season and finished in the top 10 six times. He currently sits at number eight in the season standings.
