Scottie Scheffler will not compete in this week's Wyndham Championship, due to be held at Sedgefield Country Club from August 8 to 10. The golfer's most recent PGA Tour event was the Open Championship, where he finished at T7.

As the current FedEx Cup points leader, Scheffler will automatically qualify for the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the first playoff event. The event will be held at TPC Southwind from August 15 to 18, featuring a 70-golfer field and a $20 million purse. The top 50 players from this event advance to the BMW Championship. Then, the top 30 players from the BMW Championship will qualify for the Tour Championship at the end of August.

As of now, the Masters champion is promised a place in the FedEx playoffs that begin next week. Scheffler's most recent competitive appearance was at the Olympics, where he claimed his first Olympic gold medal with a dominant 19-under 265 performance.

What makes Scheffler's Olympic win even more special is the fact that this edition of the quadrennial games marked his debut. The 28-year-old's scores in the four rounds were 67, 69, 67, and 62.
